Clam

Freshwater Clams are natural filter feeders that help polish aquarium water by consuming microscopic particles and detritus. They are peaceful and low-maintenance but require a mature, well-established tank with plenty of suspended food in the water column. Clams prefer sandy or fine gravel substrates they can burrow into.

• Recommended Group Size: Singly or in small groups

• Minimum Tank Size: 10 gallons (mature, well-cycled)

• Diet: Feeds naturally on suspended particles, phytoplankton, and detritus; may require liquid invertebrate foods like Hikari First Bites slurry or micro-algae supplements in low-nutrient tanks
