Precision deep drawing
for connectors
Emprotec deep-draws connector housings, shells and shields in stainless steel, from 0.2 mm thick. Small parts where every hundredth of a millimetre counts.
Deep drawing on transfer presses produces one-piece, seamless housings with consistent dimensions throughout the series.
Tight tolerances, surface finish and cleanliness are checked on every batch.
How we work
For a small precision part, everything comes down to the tool and the inspection:
Drawing review : tolerances, surface finish, functional areas.
Custom tool : designed and built in our workshop for thin gauges.
Prototypes : first parts to validate the shape before series production.
Series production : deep drawing on transfer presses, at a steady rate.
Measurement : optical inspection of fine dimensions, first article inspection report.
Cleanliness : particle cleaning, essential for connectors.
Frequently asked questions: connectors
How thin can you deep-draw?
We deep-draw stainless steel from 0.2 mm thick. Our tools are designed in our own workshop for these thin gauges, where the slightest clearance shows on the part.
Why a deep-drawn housing rather than a bent and welded one?
A deep-drawn housing is formed in a single piece: no seam, no weld, better mechanical strength and a consistent appearance. With no joint, it protects the connector better against moisture and dust.
Are the cut-outs and tabs made at the same time?
In most cases, yes: the transfer tool performs drawing, cutting and tab forming station after station, which guarantees their position from one part to the next.
How are the parts delivered?
Cleaned (particle cleaning), inspected and traced by batch. For connectors, cleanliness matters as much as dimensions.
Do you work with other materials?
Yes: for connectors, we also deep-draw brass and copper.
