Deep-drawn parts
for the automotive industry
For more than 35 years, Emprotec has been using deep drawing to manufacture parts to drawing for automotive suppliers: solenoid valve housings, sleeves fitted inside solenoid valves, guide tubes for clutch release bearings, thermostat cups for engine temperature control, in steel, stainless steel and brass, from 0.2 to 2 mm thick.
Our 9 transfer presses from 60 to 240 tonnes produce these parts without welds, at high speed and with consistent dimensions: that is what makes it possible to meet automotive volumes and prices.
The same requirements apply to industrial vehicles: see our deep-drawn parts for heavy trucks.
What the automotive industry demands
The automotive industry forgives neither an out-of-tolerance dimension nor a late delivery. Our organisation meets the requirements of automotive suppliers:
PPAP file : we prepare the approval file for your part before series start-up.
First article inspection report (FAI) : every new part is measured and validated dimension by dimension before production.
Traceability : material certificates, batch and heat number tracking through to delivery.
Tooling: transfer tools designed and built in our workshop, maintained by our toolmakers throughout the life of the part.
Inspection : three-dimensional measurement on an optical machine and probing, in-process checks.
Cleanliness : particle cleaning of parts before delivery, ISO 9001:2015.
Questions from automotive buyers
How is a new part approved?
Feasibility study on your drawing, design and manufacture of the tool in our workshop, first parts, first article inspection report (FAI) dimension by dimension, then a PPAP file for your approval before series start-up.
Why a deep-drawn solenoid valve housing?
Deep drawing produces a one-piece housing, with no weld or secondary machining, and consistent dimensions from one part to the next: an advantage for automated assembly at the supplier and for leak-tightness.
Which materials for the automotive industry?
Steels (DC04…) for housings and guide tubes, stainless steel when the part is exposed to corrosion or fluids, brass for thermostat cups. Thicknesses from 0.2 to 2 mm.
Can you take over a part made elsewhere?
Yes. If your part is currently produced by another supplier or machined, send us the drawing and your volumes: we will study switching it to deep drawing and the cost of a new tool.
